Loneliness (Ages 3-6 , 6-9)
Lots of things can make you feel lonely. It is not a nice feeling, but just remember that everyone feels that way sometimes. You can help your children cope with lonely feelings by sharing with them that nobody can always feel good all the time and that uncomfortable feelings do pass.
Play is an important part of a child’s development. Connecting with friends by communicating with them, being creative together, pretending together, role playing with them and simply just being silly together all form part of your child’s social needs.
Friends are defined to them as someone that plays with them. Not being exposed to this will encourage that empty feeling inside. Having friendships in their school environment and outside of their school environment plays an important part in helping them feel connected.
